Meet Our Adinkra Artists!

We’re getting a nice response to our new
Brass Adinkra Symbols, so we thought you’d like to meet the young
men who bring us these beautiful and meaningful accents from Ghana.
Abass, on the left, is the artist who creates the pieces. He is
shown here working on some brass castings. Daniel, on the right, is
a merchant and craft resource I met during the 2003 group tour to
Ghana, and he has since sourced specialty items for Cultured
Expressions, including authentic adinkra fabric. We look forward to
featuring more handcrafted items from Abass and Daniel in the
future.
Try the Brass Adinkra Symbols as simple
jewelry, zipper pulls and handbag accents, quilt embellishments
and more!

| The proper name for mudcloth is
BOGOLAN. The term “mudcloth” became commonly used when traders,
who witnessed the painstaking process of applying mud-based dyes,
began to refer to it as mudcloth. This beautiful, handcrafted cotton
fabric from Mali is one of our favorites, and we’ve added some easy
laundering tips in the Craft Tips & Ideas section. |
