into creative wall art! Learn about the traditions behind mudcloth,
adinkra, korhogo, kuba, jacquard batiks and kente and how they are
made, plus simple and affordable ways to blend your favorite fabrics
with your favorite paintings & art prints. Includes a trunk show
of finished wall art pieces, and a video presentation of textile
artists in West Africa. Program length: 1 hour presentation,

“African Accents For the Home”
provides a general overview of African fabrics and how to use them
in home décor. Pick up valuable tips and easy ideas for working
with mudcloth, korhogo, adinkra, kente and kuba raffia fabrics.
Fabric samples are circulated throughout the group, finished
projects are shown, and an optional video presentation of arts &
crafts from previous trips to Ghana is available. A fun, informative
presentation designed for general audiences and all skill levels,
including both sewing and craft enthusiasts as well as those who
simply enjoy Afrocentric art and design. Program length: 1.5 hour
presentation, followed by book signing, merchandise sales and door
prize drawings. |

"Quilting with African Fabrics" |

This specialized trunk show &
lecture with an emphasis on quilting offers explanations of the
fabric techniques along with practical applications for quilts, wall
hangings, etc. Compares these techniques with fabrics that are
familiar to most quilters, and explores the adaptability of African
prints into "traditional" quilt design. Samples of fabrics
& finished projects are discussed and circulated. Program
