You'll Need:
- ¾ yard fabric
- 18" pillow form
- ¾ yard fusible fleece
- 2¾ yards cording with lip
- 4" tassel
Intsructions:
- Cut two fabric pieces measuring 19½"
square. Cut two pieces of fusible fleece 19½" square. Fuse
fleece to wrong sides of fabrics.
- Cut triangles 19½" x 10¼" as shown,
two of the fabric and one of the fusible fleece. Fuse the fleece
triangle to the wrong side of one of the fabric triangles. Pin
cording along the seam allowances of the two short sides. Baste.
Pin tassel in place as shown. (Fig. 1) Baste. Sew this
piece to the remaining triangle, right sides together, with a
5/8" seam and a zipper foot to stitch as closely to the
cording as possible. Turn flap inside out and press (Fig. 2).
Baste the long edge closed.
- Pin cording to the side and lower edges of the
pillow front, clipping cording at the pillow corners as shown. (Fig.
3) Position the flap on top of the pillow front, right
sides up, so that it overlaps the ends of the cording. (Fig.
4) Pin along upper edge. Baste.
- Cover with the pillow back, right sides
together. Stitch back to front using a 5/8" seam, leaving a
9" opening at the bottom. Turn; press, also pressing under
the open seam allowance. Insert pillow form, working it into the
corners evenly. Slipstitch the pillow opening using small,
invisible stitches.
